Refuge - a condition of being safe or sheltered from pursuit, danger, or trouble.
Why is it so easy for us to call on God when we’re either in difficult situations or going through tough times? Why don’t we rely on God throughout every moment of our lives? How easy we forget Him when everything is working in our favor. Scriptures say that God is our shelter and refuge. A shelter is a physical location that gives protection from danger. If you didn’t know before, there is nowhere else outside of God that can provide security. God’s word continually tells us that he is our Savior. God being our refuge changes our status from unprotected to safe, guarded, sheltered. God is our refuge. Our focus should be on remaining in God – abiding in Him. That is the only way we are sheltered and find refuge. Don’t choose God seasonally, but instead, daily.
If you make the Lord your refuge,
if you make the Most High your shelter,
10 no evil will conquer you;
Psalm 91:9-10
You will trample upon lions and cobras;
you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet!
Psalm 91:13
The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me.
I will protect those who trust in my name.
Psalm 91:14
