The mind is a powerful thing. Your mind can go as far as it wants to go on ideas and imaginations. You would be surprised by the thoughts that can enter your mind. I mean if we are being honest, we have all experienced bizarre thoughts.

It's the battle of the mind because some thoughts can be created by us, and others produced by the devil. I have had my fair share of both. I know what it is like to have fantasies that end up becoming a stronghold in your mind. If you are not careful, these thoughts can end up becoming reality, leading to action and then to sin. Then, there are the thoughts that are produced by the devil. The devil wants nothing more than to see you act out the thoughts that he placed in your mind to get you to sin. For the longest, the enemy was attacking my sexual identity and placing unfamiliar thoughts (these thoughts were not my own) in my mind. Yes, the devil can place thoughts in your mind. Let us not forget good ole Eve in the Garden of Eden (Gen. 3:3). Eve was approached by the serpent who had a suggestion or “food for thought” about eating from the Tree of Life. This thought that the devil produced in Eve’s mind caused her to grab hold of the thought, ponder the thought and then act on the thought. This is the equation for any thought that comes into our minds.

Say No To Bad Thoughts
Eve had the power to say “NO.” Eve was more than capable of uttering out that two-letter word and sending the devil on his belly to some corner. The same with us, you have the power to rebuke the devil and send him running. Yes, he is persistent, but he is no dummy because he knows that at the name of Jesus he must flee (James 4:7). So, that is what I did. I got the scriptures that I needed that spoke the opposite of what the thoughts were, and I read them aloud. That is how we say no to any thought that comes into our mind that is not of God. The key is to replace all the negative thoughts with the word of God. That is how we resist the devil. Remember Jesus being tempted in the wilderness, his mind was under attack by the enemy. He used the word of God against the devil and the devil had to flee. So, you and I must do the same thing if we want to be in control of our thoughts.
Here are some scriptures about controlling your thoughts:
“Set your minds on the things above, not on earthly things.”
Colossians 3:2
For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace,
Romans 8:6
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
2 Corinthians 10:5
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good, acceptable, and perfect.
Romans 12:2
