The real life of a Christian

Is not easy, but I can only speak about my own relationship with God when I say this.

I guess my biggest flaw is perfection and comparison. The two biggest killers.

Perfectionism is like an infection. Without a repellent, perfectionism can continue to metastasize because of wrong thinking and habits of living to please others. Comparison is like a burden. Without confidence in your personal relationship with God, you can fall victim to comparing either how good/bad or strong/weak your salvation is.

Both are lethal and brings you down to an all-time low. Both cause low-self esteem and increase doubt in your salvation and in God.

Galatians 6:4 says, "Don’t compare yourself with others. Just look at your own work to see if you have done anything to be proud of.”

1 Thessalonians 4:12 says, “Do all you can to live a peaceful life. Mind your own business, and earn your own living, as we told you before.”

In both scriptures, believers are encouraged to focus on their own salvation. Yes, it's so easy to get caught in the headlights of comparing our lives to others. How do we get out of that?

Only God and the word. We can renew our mind out of the old ways and habits that cause comparison and perfectionism.

This is my strategy and I hope you'll try it too. All we can do is take everything to God in prayer (Phil. 4:6, Eph. 6:18) and increase our faith (strengthening our confident hope) by meditating and walking in the word of God (James 1:22).

Don’t change yourselves to be like the people of this world, but let God change you inside with a new way of thinking. Then you will be able to understand and accept what God wants for you. You will be able to know what is good and pleasing to him and what is perfect.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭2‬ ‭ERV‬‬
