'Be persistent and devoted to prayer, being alert and focused in your prayer life with an attitude of thanksgiving. ' - Colossians 4:2
This scripture really spoke to me because it opened my eyes to the fact that the posture and attitude in prayer should always be from a heart of thanksgiving. Think about it, when are we usually thankful? When a person has given us something or done something in our favor, right?
Thankful- expressing gratitude and relief.
Now consider when you are praying, what would having a heart of thanksgiving look like? I envision a person who praises God for who He is in the good and the bad. A person who comes before God with a heart of thanksgiving is thankful because they know that the God, we serve can do all things (Ephesians 3:20-21). Now, you may be thinking why I must be thankful, but the word of God says that he hears his children and will answer their prayers in accordance with his will (Jeremiah, 29:12, 1 John 5:14). With all of that being known, we should be relieved whenever we pray to God because He is great! To have relief is to rest assured in the fullness of who God is without worry and doubt. My words to you are to be thankful prayer always because the God we serve will not withhold from us any good thing. God knows our needs and He is faithful from generation to generation.
