New Life in Dead Situations

What are dead situations?

Have you ever experienced hurt or been in a situation that appeared irredeemable. I’m pretty sure we had all been there and didn’t know how we were going to come out of it. Especially, when the devil, the father of lies (John 8:44) is speaking lies into our circumstances. Truth, dead situations are only perceived as a dead until otherwise changed. Israel believed that restoration was impossible and stated, “all hope is gone” (Ezekiel 37:11). The thing about dead situations is that they will only remain that way if you allow them to. All things created by God can be given life, but it requires action on our part. Dealing with sexual abuse was my dead situation. Allowing the enemy to tell lies and believing those lies only caused me to remain stuck. Being hopeless is the worst position anyone could be in because that person can no longer look towards their future.

What is life?

The true definition of life is the one that Jesus died to give us. Think about it, why would he die to give us life if we were already living it? The truth is, we live in a fallen world. First, we were born in sin (Romans 5:12), due to our first parents' sin. That action separated us from the initial relationship that we had with God. The sins of others and our own only result in death, pain, and sorrow. However, we don’t have to live that way because God made it possible through Jesus to receive new life (John 1:4). Jesus, The Word, gave life to everything created (me and you, Gen.1). Truth: You can receive life. You don’t have to live dead.

Receive New Life.

Remember, the devil wants you to believe his lies and remain in dead situations. Satan only has one goal according to John 10:10, “to steal, kill, and destroy”. To stay in a dead circumstance is only to pity yourself and the events that happened to you. Joyce Meyer called it, “my pit”. The pit is where we go to wallow in what is dead, the past. However, the second part of John 10:10 gives us hope. God said, “I came that you may have life more abundantly”. We have a choice between the two. We can choose to either remain defeated or cling to life by The Word of God. We receive life by declaring the word of the Lord in every situation. Speak the word over the dark areas: physical pain, abuse, neglect, betrayal, and more. The Word (Jesus) has power to bring everything to life. The darkness is not stronger than God (John 1:5).

An example can be found in Ezekiel 37. God took Ezekiel to a field filled with bones. In this story, God had Ezekiel speak to bones on two occasions. First, God had Ezekiel to prophecy over them for muscle and flesh to cover the body (Ez. 37:7). Then, God had Ezekiel to prophecy over the winds for breath to be blown into the body (Ez. 37:9). Each time, it was the word of God that was spoken, and action took place. Do you see it? What would happen if you declared the word of God over your life. The word that took on flesh was Jesus. Jesus was the manifestation of the words of God. What will happen when you declare; speak out the word of God? If you have doubts about God’s word working in your life, then think about Jesus. God said that he would send his son to redeem the world and that’s exactly what Jesus did in the New Testament. He completed the words of God. God’s word cannot return to him void ( Isaiah 55:11).
