Your mind is the control center.

Every action, response, and habit are born from a thought that entered our mind. We can receive a plethora of thoughts ranging from good to extreme. I cannot even begin to explain to you half the thoughts that have crossed my mind. The good news is that not all these thoughts are our own. Yes, you are not "crazy" just because that thought came to your mind.

Although I am mental health blogger, I gotta let you know that I am a Believer in Jesus Christ as well. That means I will be giving you not only the practical but the spiritual as well. With that being said, I gotta tell you that the devil is real, and he is after our souls. He will stop at nothing to see us destroyed and separated from God (John 10:10).

Our mental well-being is viewed in two different lights between God and the devil. The devil understands that if he can persuade our decisions through our thoughts then he can get us to sin and fall into a lifestyle outside of God's will. For example, the devil realized that if he could persuade Eve into thinking that God was just withholding something beneficial from her, she would eat it and disobey God. Our actions, habits, and beliefs all begin as thoughts. God understands this well and wants us to be very mindful about the thoughts that we allow to roam freely in our mind (Phil. 4:8). The enemy works through deception, manipulation, and straight-out lying trip us up. The devil wants us to stay in darkness and veiled to the truth of God's word. Romans 12:2 let's us know that God wants to renew our minds so that we fall do not fall into the devil's deception.

Here are a couple of verses discussing God's stance on the mind:

2 Corinthians 10:5 - "We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ."

Romans 12:2 - "Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect."

Isaiah 26:3 - "You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!"

Philippians 4:8 - "And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise."
